About me
Aanii, Bozhoo! My name is Gillianne Mundell, and I am the Indigenous Land-Based Education teacher with the Limestone District School Board in Kingston, Ontario. I was born in Maniwaki, Quebec, to an Algonquin/French father and a European mother. My two sisters and I split our time growing up between two homes: one in Kingston with our mom, and the other in Lac-Ste-Marie, Quebec, with our dad. My husband, Matt, and I now call Battersea home, where we live with our three daughters—Reace, Stella, and Tess—and our four-legged son, Rory. I enjoy walking, listening to audiobooks, gardening, the winter season, and harvesting plant medicines in the summer. I’ve been an educator for 13 years, with eight of those spent teaching primary grades in a mainstream classroom. I also served as the Indigenous Education Lead for three years before transitioning to my current role as the Indigenous Land-Based Education teacher.
