About me
As a settler born and raised in the Okanagan Syilx territory, Michael has been teaching outdoor and sustainability education in since 1998.
From 2007-2017, he administered taking 120 grade 12 students to the Rockies for a week long expedition of self discovery.
In 2018, he co-founded Quest BC an interdisciplinary land-based learning community for grade 11’s and began decolinizing his practice as part of the co-creating curriculum making research at UBC that honoured indigenous ways of relating to culture, land and the relational self.
In 2024 he founded Wonder Club, an alternative program for middle and elementary neuro-atypical learners with ADHD, ASD and FASD. Together they followed the Syilx Okanagan 13 moon calendar and developed relationships with the land and each other.
In 2025 Michael produced a Telus Storyhive documentary investigating colonial models of education and the effects on neurodiverse learners with ADHD.
