About me
Melissa Roberts is an Elder, knowledge keeper, cultural advisor, powwow dancer, grandmother, and retired educator, living her life according to the Seven Sacred Teachings. With over 31 years of experience at Lakehead Public Schools, she has dedicated herself to promoting understanding and inclusion. Melissa developed an innovative land-based program for Anishinaabeg students, which received national recognition in The Globe and Mail. As a consultant and facilitator, she designs cultural competency programs that bridge Indigenous and Western worldviews, focusing on modern challenges Indigenous communities face. Melissa also serves as the Indigenous Consultant and Community Liaison for Science North’s Northwest Expansion Project, Chair of the Northwest Indigenous Advisory Committee, and Elder/Knowledge Keeper in residence at Confederation College and Lakehead Public Schools. A passionate creator and "pollinator of ideas," Melissa works to inspire new thinking and deep connections.
