About me
"Laurel Donison is an Early Childhood Educator, an Outdoor Educator with the Peel District School Board and a PhD student in the Child and Youth Studies Department at Brock University in Ontario. Laurel works as an Outdoor Educator in a forest on the traditional territories of the Mississaugas of the Credit, Haudenosaunee, and Wendat Nations. Her work in the forest includes providing experiential outdoor education to children from the Peel District School Board. Laurel uses a relational approach to learning and values learning that is emergent and informed by the land and the children.
Laurel’s research interests include exploring children’s perspectives and experiences of outdoor learning in child care centers and elementary schools. She uses arts-based methods to learn from children and provide them with opportunities to express themselves in different ways. Her most recent work includes exploring children’s outdoor play in a lower income community in the greater Toronto area."
