About me
My name is Jen and I am a passionate educator, nature lover, and ally of Indigenous peoples and their teachings. In my 22 year education career, I have worked as a teacher in many different types of school systems in culturally diverse communities across Canada and the world. For the last 10 years, I have had the honour of learning valuable knowledge and teachings through ceremonies and conversations with many Elders and Knowledge Sharers in my time within Mi’kmaw education as a high school science and phys.ed. teacher in a small first nation community in Unama’ki/Cape Breton, Nova Scotia, as well as an employee of Mi’kmaw Kina’matnewey (MK) as Science Consultant (STEM Mentor) and currently as the Land & Sea Based Learning Lead.
