About me
As a passionate and experienced Indigenous educator, who is a member of the Blood tribe, of the Blackfoot nation, I believe in establishing and maintaining respectful relationships, with Elders and knowledge keepers, indigenous families, students, parents, and school staff. I have been the Indigenous Educator at Mckim school, in Kimberley, for nine years. I’m in the process of learning the Blackfoot language; I’ve participated in Pow wows and gone to the Sundance for four years; each time learning more about the traditions, protocols, and stories of the Blackfoot people. My mother, grandmother and great grandmother are residential school survivors; my mother saved me from attending residential school. During my time as an Indigenous educator, I have taken two courses of the Ktunaxa language, done two parts of the 4 seasons of Reconciliation and I’m constantly learning about the Indigenous history of Canada. I have done the Blanket Exercise for teachers, sd6 employees and students.
