About me
Ivy is a settler educator who lives on and benefits from the traditional lands of the Niitsitapi (Blackfoot), which includes the Siksika, the Pikani, the Kainai, the Tsuut’ina Nation, and Îyârhe Nakoda. She has taught alongside the human and more than human world in Calgary at the public charter school Connect since 2011, and has been finding joy teaching grade four since 2015. Since completing her Masters of Education with the University of British Columbia in August 2024, she's been prioritising taking students outside to engage in free risky play weekly, and looking at how to integrate interdisciplinary pedagogies of place throughout her practice. When not at school she's with her husband and doberman pinscher, either on the trails, the water, or the sofa.
