About me
Heather Kuhlken is a biologist, educator, and author who combines her scientific expertise with a passion for connecting families to nature. As a leader in environmental education, she authored "Adventures in Ecology," a comprehensive guidebook featuring over 1,100 hands-on, science-based lessons for all ages. She serves as co-chair of #NatureForAll United States, Commissioner for Education and Communication with the IUCN, and member of the Green Schoolyards of America working group. Heather holds a BS in Biology and MEd in Teaching from Rice University, with research experience in marine mammal studies and bird behavior. A published nature photographer and PADI Dive Master, her work has appeared in Richard Louv's "Vitamin N" and Texas Parks and Wildlife Magazine. Through her leadership in climate change adaptation and ocean conservation, she continues to create innovative programs that merge science and conservation with outdoor adventure, while advocating for equitable access to nature.
