About me
Fiona Hough is the Senior Manager for Curriculum and Research at Outward Bound Canada. With over 30 years of experience in outdoor, environmental, & experiential education, she specializes in social-emotional leadership development as a central component to the work of outdoor educators. Her focus on both the technical and human realms has centered on the art of connecting people to themselves, others, and the more than human world. She most recently led the development and implementation of the highly successful Training Academy for Outdoor Professionals, an initiative seeking to remove barriers, increase access and address skills gaps in outdoor leadership training. Her recent achievements include the creation of the Outdoor Leader’s Handbook, a comprehensive guide to the knowledge, practices and competencies required to work in the outdoors. In her spare time, Fiona enjoys hanging out with her dogs, writing, and exploring the rivers and oceans of her home province of BC.
