About me
I have been a passionate secondary school educator (Grades 7-12) for the last 11 years. I have spent the last 7 years of my career focusing on broadening my understanding of my role as a settler in mohkinstsis (Calgary) on Treaty 7 territory. Learning alongside Elders, knowledge keepers, and community members and reading as many books as I can, I use my positionality to uplift and promote Indigenous perspectives as often as possible, within my classroom and in the community. I am a firm believer in learning from and with the land, and try to bring this into my daily life as a mom of a two-year old, and hope to instill a sense of curiosity, wonder, and excitement into her as she grows up. I am a lifelong learner and hope to inspire others to take brave leaps into learning from Indigenous ways of knowing, being, belonging and doing.
