About me
Allyson (Ally) is an educator with 15+ years of experience in community organizations and education, focused on creating anti-oppressive spaces for young people, families, and community groups, particularly through decolonizing education. She is currently the Anti-Racism and Climate Justice Support Teacher for the Winnipeg School Division, helping educators integrate these issues into curricula. Ally has taught in both English and French Immersion classrooms at various levels, holds a post-baccalaureate in Guidance Counseling, and has recently shifted to a divisional role shaping student well-being and social justice policies. As an Afro-Caribbean biracial woman and mother of multiracial children, Ally’s experiences inform her commitment to anti-racism and climate justice. She is also an active advocate, serving on union executive and social justice committees. Ally believes in education that connects students to their identities, communities, land, and stories.
