About me
"Educator, artist and outdoor enthusiast, Alison Katzko currently teaches elementary students in Calgary, Canada. Alison is a watercolour artist and has done public art projects with the City of Calgary. She is also on the Executive Board of the Global, Environmental and Outdoor Education Council as the journal editor for Connections.
Alison has a diverse background in teaching (including the United States, Bhutan, and Thailand). Her students have connected with explorers and scientists worldwide, (including participating in the National Geographic Educator- Explorer Exchange). She is a 2023 National Geographic, Grosvenor Teacher Fellow.
Getting students outside and connected to nature daily is a passion wherever she teaches. She focuses on guiding students to develop self-confidence and eagerness to explore our world. Alison feels that authentic, field-based projects demonstrate that kids are capable of big ideas!"
