About me
SALTS (Sail and Life Training Society) welcomes young people on board for sailing voyages full of outdoor education, experiential learning, and personal growth. Students actively participate in sailing the ship under the guidance of the SALTS professional crew. They learn sailing skills like knots, navigation, sail handling, and steering the ship, all while expanding their comfort zones, building community with their classmates, and engaging with the forces of nature and physics.
SALTS is a non-profit, charitable society that has been engaging young people at sea since 1974, and currently offers programs aboard their two traditional tall ships Pacific Swift and Pacific Grace. In the spring and fall, school and other groups of youth, age 13-25, set sail for 4-5 day voyages exploring the Salish Sea of BC’s south coast. In the summer individual youth participate in 10-day voyages to farther coastal regions. A few times each year SALTS also hosts public day sails, educator day sails, and family group therapy voyages.
