About me
We would like to introduce you to our Project WET Canada Program (PWC). Project Wet Canada launched in 1996 with the primary goal to provide knowledge and training to educators, and in turn youth across Canada about water science. PWC promotes awareness, appreciation, and stewardship skills about water resources through the development and dissemination of classroom-ready teaching resources, activities, and events. The PWC peer-reviewed program is directly linked to Provincial and Territorial curriculum, is offered in every province and territory, and is delivered on an ongoing basis to hundreds of educators and youth.
Through its extensive training and support network in Canada, Project WET provides a diversity of materials in both French and English to support teaching and learning about critical water concepts. The Project WET program materials are valued for their content that is responsive to current issues and addresses community-based needs. In addition, Project WET strongly supports diversity and inclusion of audiences to have access to resource materials and training.
One of the greatest strengths of the Project WET Program is that it provides field-tested, multi-level lesson plans. In addition, teachers benefit greatly from the required professional development workshop. These workshops allow teachers time to try out the activities and see how easy they are to apply to their classroom subject areas and curriculum. Teachers also learn about local water issues and how the program supports the required Science Curriculum. Participants leave the workshops with easy-to-apply implementation strategies and plans to use their new knowledge right away in the classroom.
